Gunung Baling

Gunung Baling is part of a horseshoe-shaped ridge surrounding a limestone amphitheatre.

This hill is one of only three significant limestone outcrops in Kedah (of the other two, one is near Alor Star and the other in Kodiang). Limestone outcrops mean caves and bats, which in an agricultural area like Baling, are particularly advantageous, given the role bats play in populating fruit trees and keeping the insect population under control.
